Today I did my first drop off at the new Millcreek Savers. Big Brothers and Big Sisters benefit from the goods that you donate (they sell the items to Savers Thrift Store) and I get a tax donation form + a coupon.
This morning I gathered up some shoes that were piled up by my bedroom door, which meant the give away item of the day was a Pile O' Shoes!
Abbycat was very fond of these shoes- she enjoyed rubbing her chin on them. Coco buried her bones in them. I was tripping over them. They needed to go.
[item] 2 pair of sneakers, 2 pair slip-on Keds, 1 pair of heels
[purchase info] 3 purchased new at TJMaxx & Ross, 2 purchased at thrift stores
[time in my possession] Approximately 3-6 years
[last used] 2 years ago
[difficulty level in getting rid of it] Easy
[destination] Thrift store- Savers
[info] The shoes severed their purpose. I liked the blue sneakers best, but they were worn out. The white/green sneakers weren't comfortable when walking long distance (and should have been sent away last May). I loved the brown Keds- but were hard to match with my work clothes. The black heels and black satin Keds were nice to look at in my closet, but were not worn more than 2-3 times.
Last May I had over 142 pair of shoes. I'm down to around 40.
I love shoes. I have not bought one pair of shoes this spring or summer season! This is a huge step for me!
I still look at shoes everywhere I go. I keep telling myself it's okay to look, just not to buy (even if they're on sale)!
Sister Carmela told me in college, "Just because I'm a nun Lisa, doesn't mean I can't look at the good looking men at church, I'm still a woman!"
Yes, I did buy a few items at Savers. I had a coupon for 25% my entire purchase. All items were on a "to buy list"
- A new dog bed for the cat and dog ($2.99)
- A brand-spankin' new Good Grips food ricer ($2.99)
- A stainless steel Pampered Chef apple corer/slicer- brand new!-($4.99)
